Our Mission

To provide food and nutrition services that consistently promote adequate nutritional intake, improve health and enhance the quality of life those we serve.

About Us

The Dietary Department at the ERHHC is progressive and committed to providing excellent service to the community. Wholesome meals are prepared daily for hospital patients, long term care residents and Queensway Place residents.

Meals are prepared for Meals-on-Wheels during the week and delivered by committed volunteers.

Vending machines are placed throughout the facility to offer food and beverage service.

ERHHC is equipped with a fully functional kitchen where food is prepared daily. The Dietary Department consists of 18 employees managed by one Food Service Nutrition Manager.

To ensure the highest standards of service and quality a Clinical dietician works as part of the team to provide nutritional care to residents of long term care. All Dietary staff have successfully completed the Food Handlers Certification offered by the Sudbury and District and Health Unit, along with a Food Service Workers certificate. To ensure top quality, consistency, and safety all ERHHC Cooks are Journeypersons, certified through the Ministry of Skills Development, Apprenticeship Branch.

Wholesome meals are planned and quality assurance measures are implemented to ensure that everyone receives our very best service. Our dietary staff take pride in preparing and serving foods that are appetizing and tasty. We offer a three week seasonally reflective menu. The menu is planned to meet the requirements of Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating. We are committed to excellence in service and will accommodate personal food preferences where possible.

Three meals are served daily - breakfast is offered at 8:30 AM, lunch at 12:00 PM and dinner at 5:00 PM. Snacks and beverages are available throughout the day.
