Espanola, ON — The ERHHC Emergency Department cares for approximately 15,000 patients each year, averaging 41 visits per day. Meeting patient flow and wait time goals in a busy rural emergency department requires dedication and collaboration, with every team member playing a vital role in delivering timely, high-quality care.
To strengthen service delivery, ERHHC added a full-time Nurse Practitioner to its existing single-physician model. This additional clinical capacity has improved access to care for patients with less urgent conditions while supporting overall patient flow.
The results have been measurable. More patients are being assessed and treated sooner, contributing to shorter wait times, reduced lengths of stay, and fewer patients leaving without being seen.
This success reflects the commitment of the entire Emergency Department team and ERHHC's ongoing focus on quality improvement.
